The commonly known cancers are colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and cervical cancer.  These make up the mainstay of generalized cancer screening efforts today.  There are some special populations who will receive extra screening, such as lung cancer screening for heavy smokers and skin cancer checks for those with a personal or family history of melanoma.
